Rick Loyd, President
Rick co-founded Tri-Tec along with Ray Motley and Mike Davison in 1997. The three partners, with Rick serving in the lead role, successfully grew the company for nearly two decades until selling it to ZP Enterprises, LLC, who in turn sold it to Main Street Capital Holdings in October 2019. Throughout this time, Rick has remained Tri-Tec’s President. He continues to oversee every aspect of the company’s operation.
Brad Howard, Lead CNC Machinist
Brad began his career with a tool and die grinding apprenticeship program in Northeast Ohio and moved to North Carolina two years prior to joining Tri-Tec. Brad became part of the Tri-Tec team in 2006 as a CNC Machinist. After serving as CNC Machinist for a decade, he rose to production manager in 2016. In 2020, Brad decided hands-on work and product creation is where he preferred to be. Brad now serves as Lead Machinist helping with programming and employee CNC machine training.
Dennis Jenkins, Production Coordinator
Dennis became part of the Tri-Tec team in 2017 as a CNC machinist. With a positive outlook and a whatever it takes attitude, Dennis quickly elevated to a management role. In April 2020, he was promoted to production coordinator where he is responsible for overall shop management and production. Dennis started his career in 2010 with the Ford Motor Company as a diesel technician and finished as a service manager before joining the Tri-Tec team. In his spare time, Dennis enjoys building engines, working on cars and spending time with his family and friends.
Kalee Porter, Office Manager
Kalee joined Tri-Tec in February 2022 after taking time away from her career following the birth of her first child. She previously worked at AMS Industries for nearly five years. Kalee started in the company’s accounting department then received a promotion to controller. Prior to working at AMS, she served as an office manager for multiple landscaping companies. Kalee has more than eight years of office management experience. She expressed tremendous excitement about joining the Tri-Tec team and described her return to office management as “fun.”
Gary Holcomb, CEO
Gary is President & CEO of Compass Precision, Tri-Tec’s parent company. He joined Compass in October 2019 in conjunction with its acquisitions of Tri-Tec as well as Advanced Machining & Tooling, LLC and Quality Products & Machine, LLC. Gary previously was CEO of Coining, Inc; President & CEO of Dawar Technologies, Inc; Vice President & General Manager of Fisher Scientific Company’s Lab Equipment Division; and General Manager of Dynamet Inc’s Forged Products Division. He graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Paul Wilhelm, Vice President & CFO
Paul joined Compass Precision, LLC, Tri-Tec’s parent, in February of 2020 as Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. He has a strong CNC machining industry background. Paul worked for Paragon Metals from 2016 through early 2020, most recently as the firms’ Chief Financial Officer. Paragon machines tight-tolerance, precision-engineered metal components for the automotive industry.
Previously, he served in various accounting and finance roles for several other Charlotte-area manufacturing companies including IntraPac International, a speciality packaging company manufacturing plastic, laminate, tin and aluminum products. Paul has a BS in Business Administration and an MS in accounting, both from Georgia Southern University.
Jim Miller, VP Sales
Jim became VP Sales at Compass Precision in March 2021, moving from Orange County in Southern California. He has spent 25 years in the machining and fabrication industry. In his previous role, Jim served in a similar capacity as VP of Sales for Crenshaw Die & Manufacturing.
On two different occassions in his career, Jim started his own manufacturing company. His second venture — CJ Precision Manufacturing — grew to $1 million in sales in its first three years. In 2015, he sold the company to Crenshaw, where he worked for nearly six years before joining Compass. Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA.
