Shontae Boston-Broaden Re-Joins Manufacturing Industry with Compass Operating Company
CHARLOTTE, NC – November 25, 2025 – Compass Precision, a Charlotte-based manufacturer of customer, closer-tolerance metal components for mission critical applications, officially announced Tuesday that Quality Products & Machine has hired Shontae Boston-Broaden as its new Office Manager.
Shontae, who actually started at Quality Products in the middle of September, is back working in an office manager role for a manufacturing company after about four years away from the industry. Shontae described herself as reinvigorated because of the opportunity at Quality Products.
“It’s been great. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone. I was super excited to come on board,” said Shontae.
“I was very excited to come and be part of the growth and the excitement, all of the new innovation – from the orders that we’re getting to the different types of customers and industries to the purchasing of all the new equipment and all of the great things the equipment is able to do for us to enhance our capabilities and to tackle whatever is thrown at us. It’s just been a breath of fresh air.”
In her previous role at Husqvarna Forest and Garden, Shontae worked in the Accounts Receivable department and was largely responsible for the North American Distributor and B2C credit card accounts. Although she enjoyed working for her manager and with co-workers at her previous position, Shontae referred to the job itself as “mundane.”
Already in her short time at Quality, Shontae has begun problem solving and managing the company’s HR functions, including recruiting. Shontae also assists with purchasing and oversees Safety Training and Compliance.
“My day-to-day tasks here at Quality can be very dynamic, which keeps me on my toes,” she said. “I love being able to identify an issue, formulate a solution strategy and then execute.
“It’s what Quality is all about!”
Shontae first heard about Quality from a recruiter on LinkedIn. She said she wasn’t actively looking for a job at the time, but the opportunity at the Compass operating company was so intriguing, Shontae was compelled to go through the interview process.
The Quality Products staff, including VP and General Manager Dustin Jones, Engineering Manager Alan Silva and Fabrications Shop Manager Greg Donaldson sold her on working for the company. Shontae described Dustin as a “go-getter” and stressed how much she loved the company’s youthful exuberance.
“A lot of people, I feel like, might take issue with taking direction or being managed by someone so much younger than them. I welcome it,” said Shontae. “I love the energy. I love the new ideas. I love the innovation. It’s been invigorating.”
Shontae earned a business administration management associates degree from Gaston Community College. However, she emphasized most of her knowledge has come from hands-on experience.
In the mid-to-late 2000’s, Shontae served as the Office Administrator for a Brazilian company called Sabo, USA. At the time, the company, which manufactured oil seals for General Motors, was building its first ever US-based manufacturing facility.
In her role, Shontae oversaw the interior design of the office at the manufacturing facility, helped with recruiting, assisted with implementation of various IT programs and managed the day to day administrative operations of the company.
The experience she gained at Sabo USA helped Shontae smoothly transition into her next role with another US-based start-up German manufacturing facility, Nussbaum, USA in Gastonia. As the Office Manager of the company, which manufactured automotive lifts, she gained valuable experience in international logistics, payroll and human resources.
Later, she also worked at a small family-owned machine shop called WH Rogers Sheet Metal and Iron Works. Shontae said the company didn’t have the same size as Quality Products, but the work was very similar. WH Rogers had one CNC machine, a laser unit, and multiple welders.
This is where she gained the experience that most prepared her for the Quality role. On top of the Quality staff, the Compass management team drew Shontae to her new position.
“I had the opportunity to meet Shontae by phone shortly before she started, then again in person during her first few days at Quality,” explained Gary Holcomb, Compass CEO. “Our office manager positions aren’t easy, you get pulled in lots of different directions.”
“But Shontae seems perfect for this role. I think she will be very successful.”
About a month after starting with the operating company, she repeated multiple times how excited she was to be in her new position.
“It makes me feel good to know that I’m contributing to something that’s growing,” she said.
“When I saw what they were doing here, and the growth and the profitability, I said, ‘Yeah, I need to be a part of that.’ They exceeded their yearly forecast for 2025 like in the middle of the year. That was amazing to me.”
At Husqvarna, Shontae held a hybrid role. Although that was attractive during the COVID-19 pandemic, she called it “refreshing” to be back in an office full time. Shontae said her home and work life “were running together too much” with her previous role, but she didn’t realize that until starting at Quality Products.
Originally from Lincolnton, NC, Shontae has been married to Aaron Broaden for 12 years. She is the mother of four kids and the grandmother of three.
In her freetime, Shontae is very active with her church, where she is a vocalist in the choir. She enjoys spending time with family, going out to eat and traveling. Shontae called Hilton Head, South Carolina her “happy place.”
The Quality Products 47,000 square foot facility on Westinghouse Boulevard in Charlotte houses a complete complement of CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers, lathes, laser cutters, press brakes, punch presses, welding stations, and inspection equipment. It has about 30 employees and supplies customers down the street, across town, and around the country.
Quality is one of 10 Compass Precision operating companies. Three of the other machine shops are also located in North Carolina.
Quality Products serves as the Compass corporate office in Charlotte.
